JULY 2005 - THE FUTURE OF THE
CLUB
Recently all the members received an
e-mail from our chairman - Ian Finch - explaining the proposal for the
improvement of the club that he had made to the Head Master of the school
- Mr Sarell. The basis of the proposal was the construction of a permanent
track and possibly a race control unit. We eagerly await Mr Sarells
response.
From the e-mail - "I am sure
that if we could build our own tarmac track it would attract more
drivers to compete, we could then hold open trophy meetings which
would generate income back to the school something which is lacking at
the moment with the surface we have had for over 10 years. A purpose
built track would also attract more pupils to have a go at the
sport which not only caters for electrical and mechanical skills, but
also social skills as well."
There were some solid plans for
promotion of the club laid down at the meeting.
1.To address all year 7's in September so that they
will be aware of the Car Club and when and where it is,and also
encourage more to attend with the possible use for a short period of
loan cars
2. To have use of a locked glass unit by reception to
show Radio Control cars and equipment to reinforce the Car Club theme,
and for contents to be covered by the School insurance.
If anyone has an old car that could be
used as a loan car for new people to try out at a meeting then please let
Ian know via e-mail.
Quote Ian : "anything that we
could loan for a new comer to try (not destroy) would be a help!"
I will be providing a complete car but
may possibly be short of radio equipment - so please if you can lend
anything then let Ian know.
