"You can put that in your notebook!"

Quote Ian Finch. (But honestly I don't really have a notebook!)

And you know what, he was right - if I had had a notebook on me at that point it would have been full of scribbles about Round 6. This will only be a snippet of the action - In this one report I simply haven't got the space or time to go into the: "performance enhancing driver aids", stewards enquiry into "sabotage" by strategic debris placement, illegal trophy smuggling (you know who you are) - the list could go on......

B-FINAL BLUES

There was an invasion of large members into the B final this week. Only one junior emerged man enough to take on the "big ones". Joshua Crawford finished a well deserved 2nd with 16 laps. The difference between Joshua's average and fastest lap was only 2.71 seconds. The winner of the B-final Kevin Dodd achieved only a 2.55 second difference between his.

Surely the accolade that Kevin will treasure most is that of beating his "pit buddy" Ian Mullaney.

The driving in the B-final was not up to the standard that we would really like to achieve at YSCC. It goes without saying that if a driver is lapping you then you must make a real effort to let them pass. If they are close to you then move towards the outside of a corner so that they can cleanly pass inside. This is for your benefit as much at the lapping/faster driver because you will lose much less time moving aside than if you end up crashing.

FINCH 1-2-3 IS PINCHED

The first round of heats saw domination by the Finches. The two "contenders" to the Finches were put off their pace in the first heat. Jason Faulkner suffered retirement at the hands of a suspect piece of plastic. Rory Elston was pathetically unprepared and put in two 21 second laps while he worked out which way the track went (talk about that for impartial unbiased and superbly critical reporting.)

As a result the first round of heats finished with a Finch 1-2-3, Ashley-James-Ian, to which Ian proclaimed the timeless victory cry of "You can put that in your notebook (implying - and shove it!)"

In the highly competitive arena - that is Yateley - you never get an easy ride. The contenders got right in there and pinched the places off the Finches.

The top five in qualifying finished off like this:
