RACEWAY GRAND OPENING |

June 10th 2007, report by Ian
Finch.
The Open day started with
foggy patches which soon burnt off with the sun, to leave a bright
sunny day. We had a reasonable turn out considering the race
meetings going on elsewhere on the day, we were fortunate to have
some drivers who came a long way to join in the fun. All the drivers
were booked in and ready to go after Ian Finch the Chairman of the
Club held a drivers meeting to explain a few things and point out
the electronic score board and starting light system exclusive to
the YSCC.
First round got under way and did
everyone try, if you didn't post a low 18 lapper then you were in
the B Final, as some regulars found out to their cost. The pace was
being set by the local club champion with a 19.306.45 - Ashley
Finch driving one of his father's Tfracing designed chassis based on
a FT TC4 this was the chassis to have on Sunday as 5 in the top 8
were using the TFracing chassis, including the first 3 home in the A
Final. The finals were raced over 2 legs lowest score to win,
that was taken by Ashley Finch who also beat Kevin Brunsden's FTD,
set 2 weeks ago, with 2 wins he was followed home by his Brother Ben
also driving a Tfracing Chassis with a great Finish for Kieran Clift
also driving Tfracing Chassis, he drove really well all day and
deserved to be in the top 3, one of our bright hopefuls for the
future..

The Day went very well with our
lovely girls from 96.4 the Eagle turning up and helping with most
things and also doing 2 live reports back to the radio Station not
forgetting the fact the we had the Local news group paper turn up
for pictures, together with Meridian TV who were covering the open
day as well, the chairman introduced Rob Collard the BTCC champion
to cut the ribbon covered by the radio TV and Press. Altogether it
was a fantastic day with the main Raffle Prize being won by Darcy
who is now a new member, he won a RTR TC4 and was as pleased as
punch, he was only 7 and declined an interview with the TV but had
his picture taken. The day was rounded off with the trophy
presentation and the drivers Raffle which most of the prizes went
a certain Mr Mullaney mind you he did buy a lot of tickets.
We had a fantastic turn out by
the general public who came along to watch the racing and the
presentations, a big thank you to them for spending most of the day
with us and supporting the Club.
